We would like to take this week for you, our readers, to be able to hear from us – the team members of iLive 4 Christ. Each of us responded to the same question and we hope that this reveals our hearts to you as well as how much we love doing what we do.
“What is your passion and/or drive for being a part of the iLive 4 Christ team?”
Kerry: I began serving on the iLive 4 Christ team four years ago. I have always had a heart for middle school and high school students. I raised three children, and loved these challenging yet beautiful years before they left the nest. Core values and behaviors are learned way before this time. However, during middle school and high school, the students are developing their adult character traits. I love watching these young people have “ah ha” moments in discovering their faith, and how they are making their faith their own, not their parents.
After serving at my first retreat, I knew I wanted to be a part of something that was way bigger than me. I cry at the close of every retreat when I see how these young people are impacted not only by what is spoken, but the love they receive from their leaders and each other. The Holy Spirit is in the room and changing lives forever. At the end of the day, what could be more fulfilling than to watch God build his kingdom “one child at a time”.
Karen: From my teen years, and very well into adulthood, I struggled with insecurities and self-esteem issues and tried to earn acceptance and approval by others- even God. I finally grasped that God accepted me just as I was, which changed my walk with Him tremendously. My passion is to help women of all ages realize their value and potential as they walk with the Lord; to realize the depth of what it means to be free in Christ and to recognize the enemy’s ploys to try to keep us from this freedom. The exciting thing about this ministry is that by sharing this information with teens, we are able to help them walk in these freedoms at a young age, allowing them to blossom into confident Christian women.
