So the other night, I was trying to fall asleep. Totally comfortable, fan blowing, pillows perfect, about to head off to dream land. And then it started. The cricket. It started chirping. It started chirping loudly. It was all I could hear. I was furious! How is it that as soon as I’m ready to go to bed, the cricket decides it’s time to put on a concert right outside my window? After a few tosses and turns, and pillows over the head, I finally fell asleep.
This continued for a few nights. The cricket had to go. Why in the world does it decide bedtime is the right time to make some noise??!??!
Then, yesterday morning, I was in my room putting laundry away. And guess what? I heard the cricket. I was stunned. So he doesn’t just chirp when I’m falling asleep? And then it hit me. No. He is probably chirping all day and night; I am just only listening when I am quiet.
Then it hit me. This is the same way I tend to treat my relationship with God as well. He is speaking to me, speaking to my heart, all the time. He is always there, always loving me, and always guiding me. But I only choose to hear Him when I want to…when I am quiet. WE NEED QUIET TIME WITH GOD. It is essential to our relationship with Him. I encourage you to take some time this week and enjoy some quiet time with your King. Trust me, it will be so worth it!
